You can now view Reading Museum’s entire collection of over 400 oil paintings online on the Art UK website. We have worked with the Public Catalogue Foundation to add our paintings onto this website.

The website shows the varied nature of Reading’s collections from our historically important portrait of Queen Elizabeth I to modern works such as an Abstract by John Piper or a self portrait by Stanley Spencer. There are also many works showing local places for example Reading Abbey and the River Thames.

Our paintings are used in our gallery displays and our varied programme of exhibitions and activities. Some are on show in appropriate local institutions including the Civic Offices, the Crown Court and schools. We also lend paintings to our corporate sponsors and to museums and galleries both in the UK and abroad. All works on loan are in public spaces not tucked away in buildings without public access.
