NOW OPEN! Internationally acclaimed wildlife artist and bird expert Robert Gillmor returns to his native Reading for the first large scale retrospective of his work in 30 years.

Robert is well known for his masterful linocut prints. They result from thousands of hours spent observing birds plus an exquisite sense of colour and superb draughtsmanship. They perfectly capture the subject's essence - what ornithologists call 'the jizz' - ensuring there is plenty in this exhibition for wildlife enthusiasts and art lovers alike to enjoy.

Harvest Mice by Robert GillmorAll the original linocut prints for Robert’s recent Royal Mail 'Post & Go' stamp series are on show as are commissions as varied as humorous greetings cards and conservation posters. He has contributed illustrations to more than one hundred books and this aspect of his work is represented by watercolours, line drawings and preparatory sketches.

There is a full programme of events for adults and children to accompany the exhibition, including ‘An evening with Robert Gillmor and friends’, walks, talks and family activities. Follow the 'What's On?' links on the left for details or download the pdf of all museum events below.

Don't miss the beautifully illustrated new book Birds, Blocks and Stamps: Post & Go Birds of Britain from Reading publisher Two Rivers Press. Launched to coincide with the exhibition opening, it is on sale now at an exclusive price of £10 from the Museum Shop (usually £12.50). The first edition sold out within two months!
