Object of the Month: Collier family photograph album

September's object of the month is a family photograph album chosen by intern Rachael. Rachael has been working at the Museum on a 12-week placement and her main role has been studying the Forfeitt collection, a group of historic world objects gathered by foreign missionaries in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Reading’s Bayeux Tapestry in British Museum Project

The British Museum has included Reading Museum’s Bayeux Tapestry replica in an exciting online project called ‘Teaching History with 100 Objects’.

Object of the Month: Reading Festival Ale

Excitement is building for nearly 90,000 music-lovers preparing to descend on Reading for the annual Reading Festival. To celebrate, our object of the month for August is a commemorative bottle of ale from 1971, the first year it was held in Reading.

Father Willis Organ 1864 - 2014

2014 marks 150 years since Reading's famous Father Willis organ was presented to the town by the Reading Philharmonic Society in 1864. To celebrate the anniversary there is a special concert on Saturday 4 October 2014 and other events.
