Adopt an Object logo and some of the objects for adoption

Adopt an object and become a Super-friend! You can now help Reading Museum to care for its unique collection by adopting one of our objects for a year – either for yourself, or as an unusual gift for any occasion.

A pupil of Green Girls School, Reading, an oil painting by Annie Margaret BradleyWhen you adopt an object, you will receive a certificate including an image and description of it, and your name will appear on its label for the year (you can opt out of this if you prefer). The objects that are up for adoption can be viewed on the list to download below. Each object can only be adopted by one person, so this is a unique and exclusive opportunity! Certificates can be customised with a dedication to make a gift adoption even more special.

This new scheme is run in partnership with the Friends of Reading Museum. Your adoption fee will include membership (if you are not already a member). Among other benefits, membership entitles you to discounts in the Museum shop and café - see the Become a Member page on this site (link on left).

For full details of the scheme, including prices, please look at the downloads below. The presence of an object on the adoption list does not guarantee it is available – someone may already have adopted it! If your favourite isn’t on the list, it may in some cases still be possible to adopt it. Click Contact Us and choose Collection Enquiries from the drop-down list to email us.

If you know what you want to adopt from the list, print off the application form below and send it to:
