Objects in the toys and childhood Memory Box

Don’t know what to do after a tidy up? Your objects may be just what we are looking for.

We are always on the look out for more objects to go into our memory boxes. We are interested in everyday objects dating from the 50s onwards. Currently we really need sporting items.

We need your help to find sporting objects!

Do you have an old Reading Football mug in the back of your cupboard or an athletics vest that you no longer wear?

Most people have been involved in sport at sometime in their life through playing at school or supporting a local team. Sport provides us with memories of sporting glory and introduces us to life long friends. Reading Museum is looking to reflect this by creating a sporting Memory Box.

What objects do we need?

The objects can come from professional or amateur sport. It can be connected to the 1966 World Cup or a local school team. Below is an idea of the types of objects that we would love to see.

Cups or plates
Medals/trophies
Sports clothing
Fan’s memorabilia
Badges
Sticker albums
Match programmes
Objects related to local sports teams

If you have any objects you would like to donate please get in touch with us. We’d love to hear from you.
