Investing in Volunteers logo
Reading Museum & Town Hall is looking for volunteers to help with exciting projects. Volunteering is an ideal way to learn new skills, make friends, get involved in a wide range of projects and to support the Museum's work.
Reading Museum & Town Hall is committed to providing the best environment possible for our volunteers. We have achieved the UK Volunteering Forum’s Investing in Volunteers award, the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers. If you would like to know more, you can download a copy of our assessment report below.
Why do we need volunteers?
Volunteers are important. They bring fresh ideas and help us build links with local communities.
What opportunities are there?
There are opportunities to increase our visitors' enjoyment and understanding of the collections. This can be done by helping our education team, assisting the curatorial staff or even conducting tours of the museum for groups of visitors.
How does it benefit you?
Being a volunteer is rewarding. If you have some time to spare, short or long term, and would like to learn a lot, gain valuable experience and hopefully have fun along the way volunteering might be for you. Volunteers will pick up new skills, confidence and meet a range of people.
Who are we looking for?
Enthusiasm is the main qualification we are looking for. We would love to hear from anybody interested in volunteering whatever your age or experience of museums.
Where do you need to register?
If you are interested in volunteering or want to find out what opportunities are currently available please have a look at our 'How to volunteer' page or use the Contact Us link on this website. We look forward to hearing from you!
