| Classroom Observation: Question 58: If there was a display
of loans, where was it? |
Conclusion: 46% (12) of 26 observations included displays. 50% of the
displays were in whole school shared spaces such as the school foyer and library. 92% (11)
of the displays were in primary schools.
Although these were the number of displays at the time of the observation, some
teachers were planning to put the loans on display at a later point in the loan period.
Summary of findings:
These results are based on observations in 26 classrooms.
- · 46% of schools had artefacts on display during the observations.
- · Of the schools that had displays, 50% were in whole school shared spaces. That means
that 25% of all schools put displays in shared spaces. The school foyer and library were
the most popular venues for this display.
- · 50% of the 10 first time users recognised the value of artefacts for display. This
response is comparable to the use of artefacts for display by the 16 long term users
(44%).
- · Although displays seen in secondary schools were impressive and comprehensive (8%),
display is mainly a primary school phenomena (92%).
