Conclusion: 67% (16) of 24 students remembered wanting to do something in
response to the loans. Their memories included wanting to either touch (5) or distance
themselves from the object (3); or wanting to use (5) or explore (3) the object. It is
clear that not all the students wanted to respond in the same way to the loans.
Summary of findings:
These findings are based on interviews with 24 primary students in Y3-Y6: 12
higher ability and 12 lower ability; 12 females and 12 males. The students were
interviewed 7 - 10 months after their use of these loans in the classroom.
67% (16) of 24 students remembered wanting to do something in response to the
loans:
- · 31% (5) wanted to touch the object
- · 31% (5) wanted to do an action - real or imaginary - associated with the object's
function
- · 19% (3) wanted to study the object and find out how it worked
- · 19% (3) wanted to physically distance themselves from the loans
