Summary of findings:
21 teachers answered this question clearly. These are their responses.

Teacher Interview: Question 9: Individual Answers:

Key: A "user" is a school that already uses the loan service. A "non-user" is a school that does not currently use the loan service.

1. Teacher A: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
The loans are available 100% of the time because we encourage independent learning. Some children may use something every day (up to 19 days), others may focus on them when encouraged in a group activity. It is often up to the children how often they access a loan. We help focus them whenever we are working on a particular area to which the loans contribute.

An example of this is when we put a variety of models and photographs of frogs on a small table for an activity. We also used the frog skeleton. We put arrows on the table to help the children sort the objects/pictures in a variety of ways. In learning about the frogs, we talked about the skeleton and the bones that frogs have.

2. Teacher B: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
This depends on what they are but I would say in an individual class they would be used about 3 or 4 times.

3. Teacher C: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
About 10 times during the loan period.

4. Teacher D: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
6 times each half term - this time we had them out a lot.

5. Teacher E: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
This time about 3 times. How much you use them depends on what you get -which is not always what you've ordered. What we get is not as much use as what we ordered. This makes things difficult. You can't plan in advance if you get different things.

6. Teacher F: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
2 times a loan this time round; there are two other classes in this year grouping who will also use them twice - once for observation and another time for drawing. (6 times in total)

7. Teacher G: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
2x a week (1 hour each student) It depends on what you get. There is also the opportunity for them to do on-going work where they use the objects when they need to. They can also be used in assemblies. (8 times in total)

8. Teacher H: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
4 times (one week each class)

9. Teacher I: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
1 time a week. (4 times in total)

10. Teacher J: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
1 time a week. The loans circulate through the school. (4 times in total)

11. Teacher K: User: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
2 times a week. (8 times in total)

12. Teacher L: Non-user: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
Lesley said the loans had not been used at all as a focus in a lesson but were a focus as a display - something different to the norm.

13. Teacher M: Non-user: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
At least each group will use the loans twice so they can see the different loans and have different experiences. (Unknown as to how many groups there were)

14. Teacher N: Non-user: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
About 3 times a week. Over the past week we had two afternoons of Art with the loans as a focus. Then we did grouping and describing with the loans for Science. Now the children are in groups doing research on the different loans that tie into our project. (12 times in total)

15. Teacher O: Non-user: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
Loans - not at all. We would use our own artefacts every week as it is such an important part of learning.

16. Teacher P: Non-user: Primary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
2 times each half term.

17. Teacher Q: User: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
At least 2 times each week so at least 8 times altogether.

18. Teacher R: User: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
4 - 6 lessons in Y7 and in Y10 (8 - 12 times in total) We use them to start off a project usually.

19. Teacher S: User: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
4 times.

20. Teacher T: User: Secondary
To what extent do you focus on the loans specifically during their time in school? How many times a week?
They can be used up to 12 times a week. (48 times in total)

21. Teacher U: User: Secondary
To what extent do you focus on the loans specifically during their time in school? How many times a week?
More than 3x a week. (12 times in total)

22. Teacher V: Non-user: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
One class used the loans. (Unknown how many lessons)

23. Teacher W: Non-user: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
8 lessons each week so about 32 lessons each half term.

24. Teacher X: Non-user: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
They have been used 7x already (half a term). They have also been explored by the staff - giving staff training and ideas. At the start of the year we deal with primary evidence. But at the end of the study the children's awareness and respect for the objects is far more advanced. They come to it as mini-experts, with some kind of base knowledge.

25. Teacher Y: Non-user: Secondary
How often are loan objects incorporated as a focus for specific learning tasks in the classroom?
Once a term in 9 groups of 30.
