Teacher Interview: Question 25: Is learning from objects more, equal, or less important than learning from books?


Conclusion: Out of 92% (23) of 25 teachers who thought that learning from objects is as important as learning from books, 61% (14) thought that objects were equal in importance to books and 39% (9) thought that object were more important than learning from books.

Summary of findings:
25 teachers were asked this question. These are their responses.
  • · 36% (9) of the teachers rated learning from objects as more important than learning from books. This is an amazing and hugely encouraging response for the loan service.
  • · 56% (14) of the teachers rated learning from objects as equal in importance to learning from books.
  • · Only 8% (2) of the teachers placed learning from objects as less important than learning from books.

They all get a lot out of the objects, but they are particularly important for that little group of children who will slip through the education system - these children really get into it. Because you can touch, draw, make up a play about the object - they remember it.
