Gallery and Classroom Sessions
Handling objects is a key element in our gallery and classroom
sessions. These are based around our unique collections.
All sessions underpin the requirements of the National Curriculum
and are in line with QCA recommended schemes of work. (For
full details see the Sessions page)
Loans in your Classroom
Loans Online enables everyone to browse over 1,500 loans boxes packed with museum collections that cover all areas of the National Curriculum. As a subscriber, you can book your choices online, up to two years in advance, allowing you to plan lessons ahead. The boxes are delivered to and collected from your school twice each term.
Katesgrove Classroom Experiences
Bring your children to experience life as a Victorian school
child. Katesgrove sessions are part of the membership choice
available.
Online Resources
Online resources are available to extend and reinforce
our sessions and loans boxes. They can be purchased direct
from the museum. You can use your electronic Learning Credits
(eLC's) for these resources.
Flexible choices for schools
Our Hands-on Learning menu options allow you to devise a flexible programme that fits with your own teaching needs. Services and prices have been created specifically to meet the needs of today’s busy teachers. We feel confident that you, your pupils and their parents or guardians will want to become a member of Hands-on Learning.

Museum staff can visit your school to provide advice and information about our services
and exciting ideas on how to use museum objects.

If you are unable to take advantage of our membership scheme all services are still
available at the following prices:
- Museum Loans Service
Individual loans boxes can be delivered per half term at £30 per box
- Museum Gallery Session
One session in the Museum led by our trained staff
suitable for KS 1, 2 and 3 - (duration two hours) at £95,
maximum group no. 35
- Museum Classroom Session
One session in your classroom led by museum staff
suitable for KS 1, 2 and 3 - (duration one hour) at £95,
maximum group no. 35
- Online Resources
Online resources available at £95 for eight resources per year
