Earliest Europeans: How Did Our Ancestors Survive?

Venue: Green Space, Reading Museum

This display curated by Dr Rob Hosfield of the University of Reading’s Archaeology Department and Dr James Cole of the University of Brighton’s School of Environment & Technology will introduce our earliest ancestors and show how they survived in ‘Ice Age’ Europe. It will include casts of skulls, tools, and video footage reconstructing how those tools might have been used.

Linked to a wider project on the earliest humans and the climatic challenges they faced, run by Dr Hosfield and Dr Cole and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Look out for the related talk and flintknapping activity!

*Please note this display will be sited in the Green Space gallery on the first floor, not in Reading: People & Place as advertised - this is due to redisplay works taking place on the ground floor between October and February*
