A Victorian Schoolroom Session

This session has been designed to support the study of Victorian education.

Features:
  • KS1, KS2 and KS3
  • Takes place at the museum in a specially reconstructed schoolroom
  • Costumed session leader in role as a Victorian teacher
  • Opportunities to wear replica costume and take part in role play – including (KS2/3 only) playing the dunce and a naughty child to be caned 
  • Investigate real objects from the period
Objectives:
  • Understand what school was like in the Victorian period
  • Know what lessons children were taught
  • Know how children were expected to behave
