Tea and Talks at Two: Science and Magic within the Monastery

Venue: Victorian Gallery, Reading Museum

Learn about the role that medicine, science and magic played within monastic communities. This talk will look at how and why monks in Reading studied the positions of the stars and planets, and their effects on human life.  It will also examine how this knowledge was used in running the abbey and fighting against both sickness and evil

As part of our Reading Abbey Lecture Series, come to the Museum to hear Professor Anne Lawrence from the University of Reading talk about a side of Reading Abbey that you have never heard before!

Refreshments will be provided.
