Reading Museum has held a number of exciting workshops as part of the Reading Abbey Revealed Project!
Our series of Art in the Dark Ages workshops have explored medieval crafts from weaving baskets to creating poetry. The final half of the series will give the opportunity to learn about the making of medieval manuscripts, make encaustic tiles like the ones that would have covered the floor of Reading Abbey and carve stone in the style of the capitols that adorned the tops of pillars in the Abbey Quarter.
We want to celebrate the work that people have created in response to the Abbey Ruins. Explore the galleries below to find some of the fantastic work produced by participants who love the Abbey and the history of Reading as much as we do!
