Venue: Reading Museum
Watch young silversmiths at work and talk to them about the impressive work going on at local charity Bishopsland Educational Trust.
Reading Foundation for Art are celebrating the work of The Trust, based just outside Reading, which has helped newly qualified silversmiths to develop their careers for nearly thirty years. Many ex-students now have national and international reputations.
During the pandemic the Trust ran a competition for its alumni to design a small sculpture based on the simple components of a traditional tea-caddy spoon. The imaginative designs were so impressive that Reading Foundation for Art, with the help of some generous Reading businesses, commissioned eleven of the designs to be made in silver.
The mini-sculptures will be on display and work by current Bishopsland makers will be on sale.
