Saturday 21 March 2026, 10:30am - 4pm
Venue: Window Gallery, Reading Museum
This one-day workshop invites you to explore the stunning sculptures in the Window Gallery, showcasing a diverse collection of art and artefacts from exquisite Romanesque stones to the figurative works of artists such as Epstein, Gibbings, and Hambling.
Led by artist Rebecca Swainston, you will begin by studying the sculptures, capturing their intricate forms, textures, and movement.
You’ll then explore a variety of drawing techniques, including contour, gesture, and shading, before moving on to interpret your drawings using mixed media. Experiment with different materials such as charcoal, paints and pastels to add depth and expression to your work.
With Rebecca’s guidance, you’ll discover new ways to represent and interpret the sculptures creatively. By the end of the session, you’ll have a dynamic collection of artwork that reflects your personal exploration and creative response to the sculptures in the gallery.
