Intro to Dungeons and Dragons

Wednesday 5 August , 12:30pm - 3.00pm

Venue: Reading Museum

What happens when you mix historical artefacts, collaborative storytelling and a twenty-sided die?
Here at Reading Museum we set out to answer just that! Through a unique Dungeons and Dragons project, we want to explore new ways of engaging with our collections and bringing the museum to life.

What:

Ever wanted to adventure through magical worlds; slinging spells, slaying dragons and searching for legendary treasure...

If so, then you're in luck – on Wednesday 5th August we will be running an Intro to Dungeons and Dragon event for 10-12 year olds.

If you're unfamiliar, Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game that lets you embark on adventures with your fellow players, guided by a Dungeon Master who acts as the game's referee and storyteller.

Participants will be given an introduction to the game itself and how to get started, alongside a chance to play though a small encounter and have a try at some role-play.

When:

Wednesday 5th August 2026
12:30pm - 15.00pm (includes a small 20 minute break)

Who:

Ages 10 - 12  (Must be accompanied by an adult)
