‘What Time Leaves Behind’ is a painting degree show exhibition of still life paintings by Samantha Watkins.
Samantha’s work is about personal attachments people hold with objects representing memories, sentimentality, places and occasions.
Samantha’s work is often described as intimate and intuitive where colourful arrangements of found preloved objects are painted, drawn and composed into works where the viewer is invited to explore with their own emotion and interpretation. The artist looks for unusual old objects which are slightly damaged with cracks and chips to portray a sense of time.
Samantha is in her final year of study with the Open College of the Arts / Open University.
Samantha will be at the exhibition each day to talk about her work. Informal workshops will he held on Thursday 3rd & Friday 4th September 2~4pm.
