Saturday 14 March, 11am-1pm and 3pm-4pm
Venue: Atrium, Reading Museum
What:
Adi will be in the Museum demonstrating her remarkable silversmithing techniques, chatting with visitors and showing off the exquisite objects that she made after delving into the stories and objects associated with the Roman material in the Museum’s collection. Her new sculpture installation ‘By Association’, commissioned by The Contemporary Art Society and Reading Foundation for Art, will be on display for the first time.
By Association is a new body of work by Adi Toch, developed in response to the Roman collection at Reading Museum. Working with pewter, tin smelted from cassiterite, and mineral fragments from Cornish tin mines, the project explores the geological entanglement of stone and metal, and how materials carry memory and accrue meaning through circumstance.
