Tech Town: Reading, past, present… future

Reading’s Digital Revolution is a landmark museum project bringing together, for the first time, personal stories, lost artefacts and museum collections that chronicle Reading’s remarkable rebirth. In 1964, the arrival of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) - soon to become the world’s second-largest computer company - transformed the town into a hub of innovation at the heart of the UK’s Silicon Thames Valley.

Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and in partnership with The National Museum of Computing, the project celebrates Reading’s pivotal role in shaping the digital age and the legacy that continues to inspire innovation today.
