Adi Toch: By Association

A new sculpture installation ‘By Association’, commissioned by The Contemporary Art Society and Reading Foundation for Art, will be on display for the first time.

'By Association' is a new body of work by Adi Toch, developed in response to the Roman collection at Reading Museum. Working with pewter, tin smelted from cassiterite, and mineral fragments from Cornish tin mines, the project explores the geological entanglement of stone and metal, and how materials carry memory and accrue meaning through circumstance.

Adi is a leading contemporary artist and metalsmith whose practice explores material dialogue. Her work is sophisticated, thought-provoking and technically brilliant. She teaches at the Royal College of Art and her recent high-profile commissions include an exquisite gold vessel for the Gilbert Collection now on display at the V&A Museum London.
