Reading Museum reopened on the 8th September! All of the galleries at Reading Museum will be accessible, however the Riverside Museum at Blakes Lock has not re-opened.

For all of the latest information and changes please see our Welcome Back page.

Our museum galleries house wonderful historic and artistic objects both local and global - you can browse each gallery below. Our Sir John Madejski Art Gallery hosts a changing programme of temporary exhibitions for you to enjoy. Don’t miss a visit to our shop once you have had a good look around.

Highlights include important archaeological finds from Roman Silchester and medieval Reading Abbey. There is also our unique Victorian copy of the Bayeux Tapestry, contemporary Aldermaston Pottery and the famous Huntley & Palmers biscuit tins.

Our Riverside Museum is a short stroll away from Reading Museum and has one permanent gallery and a second space which is used for community art exhibitions during the summer.
