29 June 2020. To protect the wellbeing of visitors & staff, Reading Borough Council made the decision to close public buildings until further notice on 17 March 2020. This includes Reading Town Hall, Reading Museum and The Pantry Cafe. We hope that you will follow us on social media where we will continue to keep in touch, you can find a summary of our online resources on our blog . We are currently working on our plans to reopen the museum.


Reading Museum Opening Hours

Tuesday to Friday: 10am - 4pm

Saturday: 10am - 5pm

​Admission is Free, but we ask visitors for a suggested donation of £5 towards their visit.

Closed: Sundays, Bank Holidays

Closed: Mondays (except during Berkshire February and October school half-terms).

Closed: Easter Bank Holiday weekend (including Good Friday), and from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day.

Please be aware we have a lot of school groups using our galleries in term-time weekdays between 10am and 2.15pm, so if you wish to see a particularly gallery it may be advisable to visit outside these times or contact us in advance. The galleries are generally quieter after 2.30pm.
